LAKEPORT >> Newly elected officials were administered oaths of office during the Lake County Board of Supervisors meeting Tuesday.

Positions officially filled during the ceremony included District 2 and 3 Supervisors, Sheriff, District Attorney, Assessor-Recorder and Treasurer-Tax Collector.

Taking the oath for District 2 was incumbent supervisor Jeff Smith. He was joined by Jim Steele, elected in November to represent District 3. Rich Ford was sworn in as Lake County Assessor-Recorder. During the June primary election, Brian Martin received the majority vote for sheriff.

Incumbent District Attorney Don Anderson also secured his office during the June election.

Lake County Treasurer-Tax Collector Barbara Ringen ran unopposed in June.

Multiple appointments to various councils, committees and boards were also determined during the meeting.

“We have a lot of house cleaning on the agenda,” District 4 Supervisor Anthony Farrington said.

Of the 13 total groups, all appointments were unanimously approved, with the exception of the In-Home Supportive Services Public Authority Advisory Committees, which was approved with a 4-0 vote. District 5 Supervisor Rob Brown recused himself because of a conflict of interest.

The board also reappointed commissioners to the Lake County Planning Commission, except for District 3 Commissioner Olga Martin Steele, who is married to District 3 Supervisor Jim Steele.

Initially, Jim recommended Olga being interim commissioner for a month while he interviewed candidates, but ultimately decided to leave the seat vacant.
