KELSEYVILLE >> The World Series arrives in Kelseyville today, times three.
The San Francisco Giants” three championship trophies from the 2010, 2012 and the 2014 seasons will be on display from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Kelseyville High School, the second stop on the lengthy World Champions Trophy Tour sponsored by Bank of America. That tour opened Wednesday at Raley Field in Sacramento, the new home for the Giants” Triple-A affiliate. After visiting Kelseyville today, the Trophy Tour heads to the Willits Community Center on Friday (4 p.m. to 6 p.m.) and to the Finley Community Center in Santa Rosa on Saturday (1 p.m. to 3 p.m.). The tour runs through March and will make stops in cities and towns scattered throughout central and northern California and even Oregon.
Today”s celebration in Kelseyville begins with a parade at 3 p.m. CHP, Lake County Sheriff”s Department, Lakeport Police Department and Kelseyville Fire Department units will escort two Trophy Tour vehicles transporting the trophies from Kelseyville Lumber, up Main Street in Kelseyville, to Kelseyville High School.
Lake County Sheriff Brian Martin and Kelseyville Junior Giants Commissioner Dan Camacho, who secured Kelseyville as a stop on the Trophy Tour, will ride in the lead vehicle.
A VIP party takes place at the high school at 4 p.m.
A $2 donation at the door is requested and all proceeds benefit Kelseyville Junior Giants, which provides a free instructional league for boys and girls during the summer months. A 50/50 raffle benefiting Clearlake”s Junior Giants also will be held. Authentic ballpark food, including hot dogs and garlic fries, will be on sale at the high school.
