LAKEPORT >> Lake County Theatre Company (LCTC) announces the production of a comedy for “grown-ups,” set to open Feb. 13, Valentine”s Day weekend. “Five Women in the Same Dress,” by Allen Ball, will feature six of the area”s best actors and the adult humor for which Ball has become famous.
“Safe sex, jealousy, open marriage, homosexuality no topic is off the table in this show,” Toni Stewart, director of the production, said. “You name it and this play attacks it head on, no holds barred.”
Because of the range of subject matter “and the language that goes with it,” Stewart wants to emphasize the fact that ”Five Women” is not a show for children. “It”s about time that Lake County adults have a show that treats them like adults. Family shows are fine, but we should be able to produce theater of all kinds in this area. Variety is the spice of life and this play, although tender every once and a while, will definitely give everybody some spice,” Stewart said.
The scene is set in the bedroom of a wealthy young woman who was just bride”s maid at her sister”s wedding — and hated it. The other four bride”s maids have their own opinions, but all of them have the same dress.
”Five Women” will open at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Lakeport and continue Feb. 14 and for the following two weekends. Friday and Saturday shows will take place at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Wine and hors d”oeuvres will be served. Ticket prices are $18 for reserved seating and $15 for general seating and will be available soon.
