LAKE COUNTY >> “Five Women Wearing the Same Dress” is an Alan Ball comedy that is currently under production with the Lake County Theatre Company (LCTC). The six-person script involves five young women who come together to be bridesmaids — and would probably not come together for any other reason.

“These girls are out of control,” Barbara Garrett, who plays Mindy, said. “I have never laughed so hard in my life. They are off the charts.”

Some may ask, “Who is Alan Ball?” Those who have seen some of his other works — the movie, “American Beauty” or the HBO productions of “Six Feet Under” and “True Blood” — do not need to ask.

“He is a big name in the writing community,” Tom Fischer, veteran actor in Lake County, said. “The fact that Ball is the author of ”Five Women” is one of the main reasons I auditioned for this play. Ball writes in a fast, hysterically funny way. Acting in a play that he wrote is a privilege … and a lot of fun.”

“Laughing is what this play is all about,” producer, actress Laura Ewing said. “”Five Women” is an adult play, so the only people who won”t enjoy it are kids under the age of 18. This play is not for them, but no one else is excused.”

”Five Women” opens at the Lake County Fairgrounds” Little Theatre on Feb. 13 and runs 14, 15,20,21,22,27,28 and 29, Fridays and Saturdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. The theater will be transformed into an intimate environment suitable for wine and desserts.
