LOWER LAKE >> It was a busy weekend and a successful one for members of the Punishers Wrestling Club of Lower Lake as they competed in tournaments on Sunday and Saturday at three different venues.

During Sunday’s action in Sonoma County, Blake Schuster and Nick Celli secured first-place medals in their weight classes while Tristan Day added a third-place medal and Adam Viramontes a fourth-place medal.

Also on Sunday, the Fredrickson brothers — Blake, Jonathan and Austin — attended the Bulldog Classic in Turlock. Blake went 5-0 to win at 83-86 pounds. Jonathan and Austin competed in the same division, finishing third and fourth, respectively. Jonathan finished 3-2, losing to Hilmar’s Emmett Carter in a triple-overtime thriller and to Hilmar’s Noble Santos by 4-0 decision. Austin went 2-3.

During Saturday’s action at the El Dorado Hills Tournament of Champions, nine out of 10 Punishers came away with medals. More than 400 wrestlers took part.

Blake Fredrickson won a first-place medal, going 4-0 at 83 pounds. Jonathan Fredrickon finished with a second-place medal in the varsity 62-pound bracket, defeating Jack James of Sacramento in a semifinal match that went a total of seven rounds. He then fell 2-1 to Peyton Taylor of the California Grizzlies in the finals.

In the junior varsity bracket, Austin Fredrickson won the 60-65 division with a 4-0 record while both Isaiah Rubio and Celli finished 4-0 to win their weight classes.

Dominic Clark claimed a second place medal while both Mason and Jayden Roath secured third-place medals. Cisco Howland came in fourth.

The Punishers head to Rocklin for the Granite Bay Winter Classic on Sunday.
