ROCKLIN >> Eleven Upper Lake Junior Cougars wrestling club members took part competed in the Sacramento Area Wrestling Association Winter Championships last weekend at the Hardwood Palace in Rocklin and four brought home championship plaques.

Weight division winners were Gabriella Fernandez, the newest team captain for the Junior Cougars. She pinned all three of her opponents. Aiden Dancer also went 3-0, including a 25-second pin in one match. Donovan Fernandez went 3-0 with two pins and a 17-7 major decision, and Alexis Peregrina went 2-0 with two pins.

Silas Dancer finished in a first-place tie in the pee wee division and was awarded a medal. Aiden Dancer placed second in the bantam bracket and teammates Hayden Fowler and Cody Banks also received second-place medals. Other medals went to Junior Peregrina (third), Jose Fernandez III (third), Julian Fernandez (fourth) and Gage Faalelea (fourth).

The Junior Cougars return to action Saturday at El Dorado Hills.
