Lake County >> District 2 Supervisor Jeff Smith will speak about the State of Jefferson on Feb. 10 at the Lake County Democratic Club meeting.
Supporters of the movement want to gain greater representation for Northern California counties through a Constitutional Article IV, Section III state split. Lake County is one of the counties suggested in the movement to create the 51st state from Northern California and Southern Oregon counties.
With the Lake County Board of Supervisors scheduled to hear representatives of the State of Jefferson’s proposal on Feb. 17, it is important to hear Smith and his position on the state, according to club member Carlene Leskar.
There will be time allotted for some questions and answers during his presentation.
Lake County Democratic Club meetings are held in the social hall of the Lower Lake Community United Methodist Church, located at 16255 Second St. in Lower Lake, on the second Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m. Meetings are open to the public. Membership is open to all registered Democrats.
