It’s February: How Are Those New Year’s Resolutions Coming?
Can faith make a difference in the success or failure of New Year’s Resolutions? Studies show it can.
New Year’s Day I looked in the mirror and said “Self, you are overweight. You need to do something about it now.” Then I looked on the computer to see how overweight I am. Did you know that beyond overweight is “obese” and there are five levels of obesity? Evidently I am not just overweight, I am level one obese. The remaining levels are severely obese, morbidly obese, super obese and super-super obese. I am not alone in the need to lose weight and I suspect I am not to the only person to make a new year’s resolution to do so. How are your resolutions going now that we are into February? Need a kick-start?
Studies have shown that people who aim to get healthier with a group are twice as likely to succeed as someone who takes on the challenge alone. That is why we are starting a “Daniel Plan” Bible Study and Support Group. You may be asking how a Bible Study can help you lose weight but the Daniel Plan is far more than a simple Bible study — it is about Friends, Faith, Focus, Food and Fitness.
Daniel Plan will meet Tuesdays from 4 to 5 p.m. beginning Feb. 10. There is no charge and it is free to everyone. You do not need to be a member of a church to participate. This Valentine’s week why not show yourself some love? Not with another piece of chocolate, but by joining a group that will support you in the process of becoming a healthier you in 2015.
