The Lake County Special Olympics Polar Plunge will take place Feb. 21 at Lakeside County Park in Kelseyville. The big plunge will happen at noon.
Everyone can help, you need not jump into the lake. If you earn $125 or more for the program you receive a hooded sweatshirt and free admittance to the post plunge party and luncheon hosted by the Kelseyville Lions Club. Additional prizes are earned by raising more money. You can also register as a chicken, and not plunge, and still earn the same prizes.
Another way to help is to contribute to someone who is plunging or by mailing in your support to Lake County Special Olympics, P.O. Box 94, Lakeport, CA 95453.
To register for the event, or to get more information, you may visit the website www.polarplungenorcalnv.com/kelseyville/. Polar plunges are held nationwide in support of athletes who participate in Special Olympics.
By participating in Special Olympics athletes gain self confidence, self esteem, physical fitness, discipline and other important life skills. Every dollar donated goes to the athletes to fund equipment, uniforms and transportation to tournaments. This is an all volunteer organization in Lake County which serves over 100 athletes from areas of the county. Everyone is welcome to come watch.
