Middletown >> A new development is underway in Middletown.
With a gala opening exhibit scheduled in late March, The Middletown Art Center (MAC) is projected to be a vibrant cultural hub that integrates art education, exhibition, and cultural enrichment. MAC is housed in the old Middletown gymnasium — a 2,400 sq. ft. building currently being transformed into multiple exhibition spaces and classrooms, located at the junctions of Highways 29 and 175.
A call for artist submissions for exhibition and teaching has begun and are open to all artist and artisan members. MAC is accepting two-dimensional, three-dimensional, mixed media, functional art and small works. Project classes are expected to start sometime in April.
Community members and visitors of all ages, abilities and levels of artistic experience can visit and feel free to imagine, express, create and welcome the visual arts into their lives.
MAC is also accepting donations to fund renovation and start up costs.
For guidelines for membership and submissions, or for information on donating, visit www.middletownartcenter.org or call 809-5398.
