LOWER LAKE >> The Lower Lake Trojans scored 23 points in the first quarter to open up a double-digit lead, but the Kelseyville Knights came charging back to win 63-49 in a North Central League I varsity girls’ basketball game on Friday night in Lower Lake.
Ashlynn Mock scored 11 of her team-leading 13 points, including three 3-pointers, in the first quarter to help Lower Lake (5-7 league, 11-13 overall) grab a 23-12 lead, but the Knights (9-3, 15-8) pushed in front 32-29 by halftime after outscoring the Trojans 20-6 in the second period.
Kelseyville finally pulled away in the fourth quarter to remain two games behind Middletown (11-1) in the league standings with two to play.
“We came out hot,” Lower Lake coach Dave Milano said. “We cooled off after that.”
Aleia Milano also had 10 points for Lower Lake.
The Knights countered with four players in double figures, led by Alma Perez with 19. Riley Goff added 12, Heidy Cano had 11 and Haleigh Meyer 10.
