Two men fishing for bass survived a dramatic incident this weekend.
On Sunday a bass boat that was traveling across the lake at a speed of 65 mph hit a submerged log. The boat became airborne and spun in the air a reported 180 degrees before smacking back into the water.
The impact caused the boat to fill with water but didn’t eject the two fishermen. The fishermen restarted the outboard motor and idled back to shore. Fortunately no one was injured.
Boaters on Clear Lake need to use caution because of floating trees, logs and debris on the lake. The recent storms caused numerous objects to wash into the lake. Many of these items are submerged or partially submerged.
Other boaters reported seeing tree limbs and other debris floating in the middle of the lake. Law enforcement and safety officials remind boaters they should be sure and wear their life vests when the boat is under power.
