LOWER LAKE >> With absolutely nothing riding on the outcome of the Lower Lake Trojans’ regular-season finale Thursday night against the visiting Fort Bragg Timberwolves, coach Tim Biasotti honored his seniors in their final home game.

“It wasn’t about winning tonight,” Biasotti said. “We let the seniors enjoy their night, they all got a lot of playing time. The other kids on the team understood.”

While Fort Bragg beat Lower Lake 64-51 in the North Central League I varsity boys’ basketball contest, Biasotti said his only objective Thursday was to reward the loyalty of players who have been with the program and worked hard since their freshmen year.

“We wanted to make it special for the seniors. We weren’t contending for a title, so why not?” Biasotti said. “We repaid them for their loyalty.”

Fort Bragg (4-10) led 26-18 at halftime and gradually pulled away in the second half.

Dustin Martin led the Trojans with 20 points and James Clark added 15. Freshman Hokulani Wickard, who played sparingly on senior night, still managed to score nine points.

While the Trojans ended up 5-9 in league and 11-15 overall, they contended in nearly all 14 of their league games this season while also improving from 2-12 and 5-19 last season.

“We enjoyed the way our season ended,” Biasotti said. “It was all about the seniors tonight.”

Fort Bragg finishes 4-10 in the league standings.

Lower Lake won the junior varsity game 66-61 to claim a share of the league title.
