And that’s what you call a perfection connection.
The Clear Lake High School junior varsity girls’ basketball team under head coach Jamie Watkins completed a perfect run through its 2014-15 schedule on Thursday night with a 55-41 North Central League I victory over the Cloverdale Eagles at Cloverdale High School.
Clear Lake won the NCL I championship in the process with a 14-0 record. Corin Alakszay led the way with 18 points, Valerie Hutton added 17 and Camille Donald had 10 for the Cardinals, who will be losing several of their freshman stars to the varsity squad next season.
It’s the second straight season a Lake County JV girls’ team has gone undefeated. Middletown went 25-0 in 2013-14.

At Fort Bragg, Vanessa Hughes connected for 14 points as the Lower Lake Trojans handled the Fort Bragg Timberwolves to finish the season 10-4 in league play and 19-5 overall.
Claire Alderson added 13 points in the win and Shayna Pike had 10.
Upper Lake 34
Sonoma Academy 32
At Upper Lake, the Upper Lake Cougars avenged a loss earlier in the season to the Coyotes and clinched a share of the NCL II title in the process on Wednesday in Upper Lake.
Kejhana Taylor led Upper Lake, 11-3 in the final league standings, with 15 points and Ashley Aceves had nine.

Kelseyville 54
St. Helena 51
At St. Helena, trailing 20-9 after one quarter, the Kelseyville Knights fought their way back to beat the St. Helena Saints and clinch a three-way share of the NCL I championship with an 11-3 league record. Cloverdale and Lower Lake also won their league finales on Thursday to earn part of the league crown.
“This is not an easy team to play,” Kelseyville coach Rich Facey said. “They beat us at our place the last time we played, so we knew it was going to be a tough game.”
Kelseyville cut St. Helena’s lead to three points at halftime before pushing ahead to stay with a 15-6 third quarter fueled by 11 of Trey Conrad’s team-leading 18 points.
“He had a huge night,” Facey said of his freshman guard who had five 3-pointers in the game.
The Saints staged a late run to get close and missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer.
Matt Wotherspoon finished with 11 points as the Knights finished 20-6 on the season. Ean Valenzuela and Logan Barrick added eight apiece while Nate Carpenter had seven.
Lower Lake 66
Fort Bragg 61
At Lower Lake, leading by 16 points in the fourth quarter and 10 with a minute to go, the Lower Lake Trojans had to hold on down the stretch to defeat the Fort Bragg Timberwolves and clinch a share of the NCL I title.
Lower Lake, Kelseyville and Cloverdale all finished 11-3 in the league standings.
“They nearly gave me a heart attack,” Lower Lake coach Shannon Tubbs said.
Lower Lake made only four of 16 free throws late in the game to keep Fort Bragg in it.
The Trojans’ big season-ending victory featured a 30-point game from Garrett Chernoh, who buried seven 3-pointers. Marlon Jones added 12 points, Ethan Watson had 10 and Jerome Watson nine.
Lower Lake went 19-7 overall.
Middletown 51
Willits 37
At Middletown, the Middletown Mustangs closed out the 2014-15 season on a high note with a victory over the Willits Wolverines.
Middletown went 4-10 in the league standings, but showed steady improvement in the second half of its NCL I schedule.
“They’re coming along,” Middletown coach Jon Hoogendoorn said.
Isaiah Moore and Beckett Hoage led the Mustangs with 11 points apiece, Tevor LaFave added eight and Trey O’Neill had six.
Cloverdale 83
Clear Lake 75
At Lakeport, not even a 31-point night by Clear Lake’s Ryan Damiata was enough to lift the Cardinals to a win over the Cloverdale Eagles in the season finale for both teams. Cloverdale (11-3) clinched a share of the league title with the win. Clear Lake finishes 8-6 in league and 19-7 overall.
Max De Leon scored 21 points for the Cardinals and Tanner Hutton had 16.
St. Vincent 63
Upper Lake 39
At Petaluma, Robert Neels scored 13 points in Upper Lake’s NCL II loss to the St. Vincent Mustangs. It was the season finale for both teams.
During Wednesday action in Upper Lake, the Cougars fell 35-32 to Sonoma Academy. JT Claunch and Jacob Kalawaia led the Cougars with eight points apiece.
