VACAVILLE >> Nine Upper Lake Junior Cougars made the trip to Vacaville last weekend to compete in the annual St. Valentine’s Day Massacre wrestling tournament.
The club’s big winner was Jose Fernandez III, who won his 11-man, double-elimination middle school bracket at 112 pounds with a 4-0 record. Fernandez pinned three of his opponents and beat the other by technical fall.
Second-place medals went to Bradley Sneathen, Cody Banks and Aiden Dancer. Earning third-place medals were Gabriella Fernandez and Hayden Fowler.
Also competing for the Junior Cougars were Donavan Fernandez, Gage Faalelea and Alexis Peregrina.
Next up for Upper Lake is is the Roseville Meat Grinder tournament on Sunday in Roseville.
