SACRAMENTO >> The California Highway Patrol (CHP) will accept applications in March from individuals interested in a career as a CHP officer. The highway patrol is looking to hire cadets from a pool of applicants to fill vacant officer positions throughout the state.
“The CHP is looking for men and women who represent the diverse communities that we serve to provide the highest level of safety, service and security to the people of California,” CHP Commissioner Joe Farrow said. “This is your opportunity to become a member of one of the greatest law enforcement agencies in the world.”
Informational seminars are being held in each division throughout the state on Saturday to show accomplishments by women in the CHP. Although the seminars are designed to showcase accomplishments by women, all persons interested in a career in law enforcement are strongly encouraged to attend. Visit www.chpcareers.com to register.
Applications will only be accepted online during a four-day period beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday and ending at 5 p.m. on Thursday. Those interested in applying, or seeking additional information, should visit www.chpcareers.com.
“If you are looking for a career, not just a job, then we have a spot for you in our department,” Farrow said. “We invite all interested members of our communities to apply during the four-day application period.”
Minimum qualifications for candidates include: must be 20 to 35 years old, a U.S. citizen, have no felony convictions and be a high school graduate. Each applicant will be required to complete the entire testing process including a physical ability test, written test, background investigation, medical/vision evaluation and psychological evaluation.
All components of the testing process as well as an applicant study guide and practice test can be found online at www.chpcareers.com. Be sure to also visit the CHP’s recruitment page on Facebook at www.facebook.com/chp.recruiting.
