MIDDLETOWN >> Middletown High School’s Mock Trial students, who captured the third annual Lake County Mock Trial competition crown, are almost on their way to Riverside this month for the California State competition thanks to a donation from Dan Nelson.
The program had been searching for funds to help defray travel costs. Nelson presented Middletown High teacher Danielle Bruns and the victorious students from MHS with a check for $1,000 at Wednesday night’s board meeting.
“I’m thrilled to reward all the hard work these students put into developing and executing their mock trial prosecution and defense,” Nelson said. “It’s gratifying that I’m personally able to help them represent Lake County at the state competition in Riverside.”
Nelson is the Vice-President of Hoberg’s Resort and Spa. He personally made the donation and plans to further help educational programs in county in the future. Hoberg’s Resort and Spa will also be contributing to the community through partial proceeds of its 2015 Cobb Mountain Concert Series.
Middletown has won the mock trial competition three years running.
