PETALUMA >> Ashlynn Mock pitched a complete game and also had the big hit Thursday afternoon as the Trojans knocked off the St. Vincent Mustangs 11-5 in non-league softball action at Petaluma.

Mock, 2-0 since replacing injured staff ace Shelbie Harris, allowed nine hits but didn’t walk a batter. She also struck out two.

“Not walking anybody and throwing strikes keeps you in the game,” Lower Lake coach Chris Emberson said of the junior Mock, who allowed only three earned runs.

St. Vincent led 1-0 after one inning. Lower Lake pushed ahead to stay with a five-run top of the second that included a bases-loaded triple into the right-center field gap by Mock, who finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a team-best five RBIs.

“She’s a competitor,” Emberson said of Mock. “And her bat has really come alive.”

The red-hot hitting Azuree Meza, Lower Lake’s shortstop, went 3-for-5 with two doubles and three RBIs, and first baseman Kristen Celli added two more hits, including a double.

“We had a great day at the plate,” Emberson said. “We were disciplined and took good swings. I can’t be more proud of my players.”

St. Vincent got as close as 6-4 before Lower Lake (4-0) put the game away with a four-run seventh.

Lower Lake could get Harris, a four-year starter out with a leg injury, back as soon as Tuesday’s non-league road game against Montgomery in Santa Rosa. The Trojans’ next home game is a week from today against Santa Rosa at 4 p.m.
