Clear Lake High School seniors Cole Brodnansky (7) and Dillon Williams (17) connect for home runs in the bottom of the fifth inning Saturday in game two of the Cardinals’ non-league doubleheader with the McKinleyville Panthers at Lakeport. Brodnansky’s three-run blast was nothing short of a tape-measure blast as it landed on the hill in left-center field just to the left of the solar panels. Williams followed two batters later with a two-run shot to left field as Clear Lake turned a 1-0 game into a 6-0 victory. The Cardinals also won the first game 10-3. Clear Lake (2-0) makes a three-game swing up north beginning Friday against St. Bernard at 4 p.m. in Eureka. The Cardinals travel to Arcata on Saturday for a doubleheader that begins at 1 p.m.
