SACRAMENTO >> The Punishers Wrestling Club of Lower Lake brought home 12 medals from the Nor Cal Tournament of Champions Qualifier last weekend at Foothill High School in Sacramento.
In the varsity division, Bryan Gudino went 3-0 to win the 55-pound bracket, Isaiah Rubio went 4-0 to win the 62-pound bracket, including an overtime victory over teammate Jonathan Fredrickson in the finals, and Blake Fredrickson went 3-0 to win the 89-pound bracket.
In the JV division, Myles Conatser and Jayden Roath won their respective weight classes.
Punishers earning second-place medals in addition to Jonathan Fredrickson were Mason Roath, Adam Viramontes and Trevor Wilson.
Third-place medals went to Austin Fredrickson, Arturo Gudino and Wyatt Stewart.
Blake Fredrickson qualified for the Nor Cal Tournament of Champions that takes place on Saturday in Loomis. Fredrickson attended nine TOC qualifiers this season, placing first in six of them and third in the other three. More than 500 middle-schoolers from throughout Northern and Central California will be vying for TOC titles at Del Oro High School.
Another Punishers member, Travis Boyles, travels to Arizona this weekend to compete in the Terminator World Championships. Boyles is wrestling in the 8-and-under 42-pound division.
During the weekend of March 21-22, Rubio will compete in the Rocky Mountain Nationals in Colorado while other Punishers members travel to Fresno for the USA Folkstyle State Championships.
