Informational meeting: The 2015 Lake County Walnut Update will be presented on April 8 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Scotts Valley Women’s Club, located at 2298 Hendricks Road in Lakeport. Topics discussed will cover local walnut trials, climate change, water issues, canopy management, diseases and pests, and marketing strategies. The meeting is sponsored by University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE), Lake County Dept. of Agriculture and the California Walnut Board.

Short Course: Registration for UCCE’s “Advances in Walnut Production” short course will open on April 2. The course will be held from Nov. 16 to Nov. 20 at the University of California Davis.

The enrollment fee of $1,500 will cover classroom instruction, all course materials, breakfast, coffee breaks, lunches, and evening social. Reservations will be accepted on a first paid, first enrolled basis. The course is expected to fill very quickly. Those interested in attending are encouraged to register as soon as registration opens. Registration is available online at fruitsandnuts.ucdavis.edu.
