Kelseyville >> The Kelseyville High School (KHS) Construction Team — a work and skills program developed within the KHS Woods Program — will be involved in assisting a Lower Lake couple with home improvement projects making their daily lives more livable. The project is in partnership with Mendocino College and in affiliation with Hammers for Hope, a nonprofit organization focused on helping homeowners with general home repairs.

The brightest and best wood shop students will be applying what they have learned in the wood shop to provide real world construction solutions. The Woods Program at KHS isn’t only about learning and developing carpentry skills; it’s about developing a solid work ethic, developing employable traits and creating opportunities for our youth.

Due to budget cuts, the Woods Program was not offered for four years. As a result, the woods program has to be rebuilt from the ground, up. Newer equipment is needed and the shop needs renovation, as well as the continuous need for funds for building materials for student projects.

For information about the Woods Program or to find out how to get involved, contact the KHS wood shop at 279-4923.
