FORESTVILLE >> It’s a good thing Logan Barrick didn’t need a lot of offensive support on Tuesday as the Kelseyville Knights slipped past the Elsie Allen Lobos 2-0 in the opening round of the El Molino Tournament in Forestville.

Barrick, a sophomore, allowed just two hits, retired 12 straight and 15 of 16 during one stretch, struck out six and walked only one as the Knights improved to 4-4 on the season. They’ll play tournament host El Molino on Thursday at 4 p.m. El Molino beat Kelseyville 11-3 in the Knights’ season opener on Feb. 28 in Forestville.

With the Lobos threatening in the bottom of the seventh inning, Barrick struck out the final two batters to end the game.

“He threw well and Noah (Lyndall) swung it well,” Kelseyville coach Lou Poloni said.

Lyndall doubled and singled twice, accounting for the Knights’ only three hits.

“We faced a guy throwing 40 miles per hour and kept popping it up,” Poloni said.

Kelseyville scored single runs in the fourth and fifth innings. Robert McLean’s sacrifice fly in the fourth broke up a scoreless game and a run-scoring error in the fifth gave Barrick a little maneuvering room.
