LOWER LAKE >> Winning pitcher Shelbie Harris tossed a two-hitter and went 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs as the Lower Lake Trojans snapped a two-game losing streak with a 14-4 five-inning victory over the Healdsburg Greyhounds in non-league softball action Tuesday at Lower Lake.

Harris struck out 10 and walked only one. She struck out the side in each of the first two innings, including three Greyhounds looking.

“She threw strikes and had good control,” Lower Lake coach Chris Emberson said.

Healdsburg didn’t reach the scoreboard until Lower Lake’s reserves were on the field in the top of the fourth.

“We made a couple of errors and had a bunch of passed balls,” Emberson said.

Lower Lake (5-2) led 5-0 after one inning and 11-0 through three innings. Leadoff hitter Emma Diener sparked the offense, going 2-for-4 with a double and scoring three times. Azuree Meza (1-for-1) had a double and three RBIs and Alex DeGraw went 2-for-2 with a double.

Lower Lake is home Thursday to play El Molino at 4 p.m.

Upper Lake 20

And. Valley 1

At Boonville, the Upper Lake Cougars improved to 4-2 with their third straight win as they hammered Anderson Valley in non-league action. Winning pitcher Julia Mooney allowed just four hits, struck out nine and walked only one.

Upper Lake pounded out 16 hits in support of Mooney, including a three-run home run by KJ Taylor (2-for-3, 3 RBIs) during a seven-run third inning and a solo home run by LaShaye Taylor (2-for-2, 2 RBIs) during a 10-run second inning. The Cougars had seven extra-base hits in all.

Upper Lake led 17-0 before Anderson Valley scored its lone run in the bottom of the third.

Ashley Aceves went 3-for-5, tripled twice and drove in three runs for the Cougars.

Upper Lake hits the road today to play Geyserville at 4 p.m.

Baseball

St. Vincent 10

Lower Lake 5

At Lower Lake, St. Vincent snapped a 3-3 tie with three runs in the top of the fifth inning and went on to beat the Lower Lake Trojans in non-league baseball action.

Both teams had 10 hits.

“We’re starting to hit the ball and I like that,” Lower Lake coach John McCarthy said. “We’re one pitcher away from having a pretty good team.”

Isaiah Klein went 3-for-4 with a double to power Lower Lake’s offense. Tony Jones added two hits.

Lower Lake (2-4) hosts Tomales on Thursday at 4 p.m. and plays at Rincon Valley on Friday.

Tennis

Middletown 4

Clear Lake 1

At Middletown, the Middletown High School tennis team improved to 2-0 in the Coastal Mountain Conference standings with a win over the Clear Lake Cardinals (0-2).

Middletown won all three singles matches and in first doubles. Clear Lake’s victory came in second doubles where Scotty Mather and Chris Vincent defeated Elena Garay and G. Gonzalez 6-4, 6-2.

Led by Ari Diaz in first doubles, Middletown’s Diaz and Jonny Nance beat Clear Lake’s Arturo Olmedo and Liam Stahl 6-4, 6-0.

“Ari served tremendously in both sets,” Middletown coach Vic Wroobel said. “She took over the match with her serving.”

In singles action, it was Chris King over Ethan Jones 6-2, 6-1 in No. 1 singles, Robert Amante over Bailey Elkington 6-1, 6-2 in No. 2 singles, and Trevor Smith over Subhagya Joshi 6-3, 6-3 in No. 3 singles.

“Robert Amante really played well,” Wroobel said. “He started very nervously but once he got going his crosscourt shots and command of the court were the difference. He had Bailey running all over the court.”

Middletown has a bye on Friday before returning to action Tuesday in Cloverdale. Clear Lake is home Friday to play conference favorite St. Helena at 4 p.m.

JV baseball

Clear Lake 13

And. Valley 6

At Lakeport, Isaac Maize and Alex Adams each went 4-for-4 with five RBIs as the Clear Lake High School junior varsity baseball team defeated Anderson Valley.

Maize had two doubles and a triple among his four hits as the Cardinals improved to 2-0. Adams also had a triple.

Winning pitcher Mike Damiata worked the first five innings, striking out two and walking none. Maize relieved and struck out three over the final two innings.

Clear Lake plays again on Saturday in Healdsburg at 5 p.m.
