BLUES LAKES >> The 27th annual Blue Lakes Trout Derby takes place April 25-26 with tournament headquarters at the Narrows Lodge Resort in Blue Lakes.

A fundraiser for Upper Lake High School’s sports program, the derby is open to fishermen of all ages. The grand prize is $150 for first place, $75 for second place and $50 for third place.

The cost to enter is $10 for adults and $5 for youngsters under the age of 16.

Trophies and other prizes will be awarded in two categories — adults and youngsters under 16. Prizes will be awarded for total weight, total weight each day, largest fish each day and largest fish of the tournament. All prizes are awarded on April 26 beginning at 3 p.m. at the Narrows Lodge and Resort.

The entry deadline is April 22. All entrants must have a valid California fishing license. Fishing both days begins at 7 a.m. and concludes at 2 p.m. on April 25 and 1 p.m. on April 26. The limit is five fish per day.

All boats launching at Blue Lakes must have a current 2015 Quagga Mussel sticker. Inspections can be done at the Narrows Resort for $10.

The Upper Lake High School Boosters will operate a concession stand during the tournament. Hot dogs, chili, coffee, cold and hot drinks, donuts, candy and cookies will be available both days.
