FORESTVILLE >> Tyler Holt is dialed in on the mound and at the plate for the Middletown Mustangs, which is a very good place to be in the world of baseball.

Holt pitched a four-hitter, struck out 10 and aided his own cause with a key two-run double in a 5-3 victory over Del Norte High School of Crescent City on Thursday afternoon at the El Molino Tournament in Forestville. The Mustangs (3-5) will play an opponent to be determined for the tourney title on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.

“He struggled early, but he made some adjustments and was dialed in after that,” Middletown coach Brad Holt said of his son’s performance. “His offspeed stuff was working great. I think he’s ready to go,” Holt said with an eye toward the Mustangs’ North Central League I opener on Tuesday in Willits.

Del Norte scored all of its runs in the top of the third inning to take a 3-1 lead that didn’t last very long. Middletown answered with its own three-run rally in the bottom of the inning, the first two runs scoring on Holt’s double. Cody Chorjel then singled home Holt (2-for-3) to put Middletown ahead to stay at 4-3.

The Mustangs scored another run in the fourth to give their pitcher a little breathing room.

Travis Williams (1-for-2) and Albert Ruske (1-for-3) also drove in runs for Middletown, a winner of three of its last four.
