LAKEPORT >> Few people know the ancient history of Lake County as Harry Lyons. Today, Lyons will give a lecture at the public library in Lakeport titled “How Did Here Get Here.” The subject will be Lake County’s ancient rocks and will start at 2 p.m. The talk is open to the public and is free.
Lyons will emphasize local rocks in recounting the history of the North Coast. Some of which date back millions of years and formed the ecosystem of the Clear Lake Basin. He will relate where they can be viewed and what stories they tell.
Without question Lyons is one of the more popular public speakers in the county and his talks draw a stand-room-only crowd. He is professor of biology at Yuba College and is a National Science Fellow and has a PhD on Oceanography from the Scripps Institution. He is also a song writer and will have his guitar and sing several of his songs which are both musing and informative.
