Four small earthquakes in the active area along the Lake and Sonoma County border topped magnitude 2.0 last week, according to data from the U.S. Geological Survey.

The largest, at magnitude 2.41, struck between Big Sulphur Creek and Little Sulphur Creek just inside the Sonoma County line on the morning of March 17. The most recent, a magnitude 2.36 shock, registered on USGS monitors Monday morning near High Valley Creek. It was preceded by eight to ten smaller temblors. On Sunday, USGS measured a 1.52 shift alongside Highway 175, just north of Loch Lomond Rd. This occurred at 11:44 p.m.

Meanwhile, the San Jose Mercury News reported that pair of earthquakes greater than 2.5 rattled two communities in the South Bay on Monday morning.

Centered 9 miles north of Morgan Hill, the first reached magnitude 2.7 and was reported by the USGS at 8:47 a.m. The second, and larger at magnitude 2.9, followed 45 minutes later just northeast of Monte Sereno.
