CLOVERDALE >> Brendelyn Pelzel broke up Teanne Eden’s perfect game with a solid single into center field with one out in the top of the sixth inning, one of only two Kelseyville hits in a 8-0 loss to the Cloverdale Eagles in North Central League I softball action on Thursday afternoon in Cloverdale.

Edens, who threw a two-hit shutout at Clear Lake on Tuesday, struck out 13 and didn’t walk a batter. She also finished with a two-hitter against Kelseyville (0-2 league, 2-5 overall) after giving up a double to Riley Goff in the top of the seventh.

Cloverdale (2-0) didn’t have a big inning against Kelseyville, just a bunch of little ones. The Eagles scored the only run Edens would need in the bottom of the first, went up 3-0 in the third, and added three more runs in the fourth and two in the sixth.

The Knights helped out the two-time defending league champions by committing six errors.

“You can’t boot the ball around and give them extra runs,” Kelseyville coach Jeff Bour said. “We were booting it in the infield, outfield … everywhere.”

Losing pitcher Morgan Profitt struck out three and walked four.

The Knights are back in action Saturday against Calistoga in the first round of the Calistoga Tournament. First pitch is noon. They’ll play again Saturday afternoon against either Lower Lake or Justin-Siena of Napa.
