FRESNO >> Six members of the Upper Lake Junior Cougars wrestling club took part in the USA Folkstyle State Championships last weekend in Fresno and four brought back awards to Lake County.
Gabriella Fernandez led the way with a first-place finish in the 65-pound girls’ bracket. She won both her matches by first-round pins and spent only 47 seconds on the mat.
Alexis Peregrina, Aiden Dancer and Adriana Lopez all placed fourth. Dancer posted a 5-2 record with four first-round pins.
Also competing for the Cougars were Jose Fernandez III, who went 2-2 in the 117-pound bracket, and Hayden Fowler.
