Clearlake >> Authorities have caught one person of interest and are on the hunt for other suspects involved in a Thursday night double homicide.
Clearlake police found two gunshot victims in the 16000 block of 35th Avenue after a report of several shots fired at about 8:21 p.m., according to Sgt. Nick Bennett. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other was transported to St. Helena Hospital, Clear Lake before succumbing to his injuries.
With the help of witnesses who provided information on a vehicle they saw leaving the scene of the incident, at about 10:21 p.m. Clearlake police officer Mike Ray identified a vehicle that matched the description on 40th Avenue, Bennett stated. The driver was detained as a person of interested pending further investigation.
Other persons are still outstanding and are being actively sought by law enforcement and are considered to be armed and dangerous. The only description available at this time is that they are Hispanic males, Bennett stated.
There are no updates as of Friday afternoon.
“We are still working hot and heavy,” Bennett said. “We’ve been going from 8:30 last night and still going right now nonstop.”
The names of the victims are not being released at this time pending positive identification and notification of next of kin.
