Lake County >> The Highland Springs Trails volunteers will lead two wildflower walks this spring. The first is scheduled Easter Sunday, and the next is May 10, Mother’s Day.
These walks cover approximately 2 miles with frequent stops for photos and plant identification from botanist Ed Dearing. A large portion of the trails at Highland Springs are recovered hunter-on-horseback trails from more than 50 years ago. These trails are still maintained by the Highland Springs Trails volunteers.
Currently blooming on the Highland Springs trails, walkers will find Blue-Eyed Grass, Globe Lilly, Indian Warrior, Indian Paintbrush, Lupine, Houndstongue and Shooting Stars.
Meet at the dam parking area at Highland Springs at 10 a.m. Bring good walking shoes and water. No dogs. Send RSVP to Kim Riley at kimriley58@gmail.com. The Highland Springs Recreation Area is located at 3600 E. Highland Springs Road in Lakeport.
