KELSEYVILLE >> The Lake County Theatre Company (LCTC) will host auditions for its next endeavor, “A Night of One Acts,” on April 11 and 15.

This production features seven short one-act plays, each ranging from 10 to 20 minutes long.

“We’ve selected a variety of plays,” said producer Laura Barnes. “Many are comedies, including farcical and vaudevillian styles. There are also dramatic, sincere, heart-felt moments in some of the scripts we selected. We even have one fantasy piece. There’s something for everyone in this production.”

Audiences may recognize the writing style of Shel Silverstein or F. Scott Fitzgerald, two of the selected plays’ authors. Other scripts were penned by local writers, and will be performed on stage for the for the first time in Lake County at the Night of One Acts.

Each play has its own director. Some, like LCTC veteran Marg Brooks, have directed many times before. For others, like Clear Lake High School student Chris Griffith, this will be their first time sitting in the director’s chair.

The directors are seeking approximately 20 actors for their plays, ranging in age from 14 to mature adult.

“This production is a great opportunity for brand new actors,” mentor director Tim Barnes said. “For a full-length production, rehearsals last at least 10 weeks and have a lot of line memorization. These short plays will only rehearse for about six weeks, and the memorization will be much less demanding. It’s a great chance to try it out without a huge commitment. Theater is also a great way to meet people and get more involved in the community.”

The Night of One Acts will be held the first two weekends in June. Auditions will be held on April 11 at 11 a.m. and April 15 at 6:30 p.m. Both auditions will be held at the Gard Street Multipurpose Room in Kelseyville. There is no need to prepare anything specific for auditions; directors will have scripts for actors to read from. For more information, contact Barnes at 533-3406 or ewinglaura@rocketmail.com.

The Gard Street School Multipurpose Room is located at 3980 Gard St. in Kelseyville.
