Lake County >> “The Clear Lake Trowel and Trellis Garden Club is proud to be offering two $500 scholarships this year,” Leanne Harvey, scholarship chair, said.
Applicants should be seniors in high school or students who have graduated from a Lake County high school and are continuing their education. Students must be majoring in the fields listed below and planning to enter the work force in that field. Past recipients are encouraged to apply. Students must have a 2.75 GPA or better to apply. Students may be attending or plan to attend an academic or vocational school as a full time student in the 2015-2016 school year.
Qualifying fields of study are: botany, conservation, entomology, floriculture, forestry, horticulture, landscape architecture/design, biology or plant genetics, urban planning, agriculture, environmental science or related fields.
Applicants must submit two letters of recommendation, a recent photograph that is suitable for duplication and a transcript with SAT or ACT tests if these tests have been taken.
Applications are available from counselors or scholarship coordinators at Clear Lake High School, Kelseyville High School, Upper Lake High School, Middletown School and Lower Lake High School as well as at Mendocino and Yuba colleges.
Scholarship applications and supporting materials must be received by April 15 to be considered. Call Harvey at 263-0850 for information or application.
“The Clear Lake Trowel and Trellis Garden Club wants to thanks the community for supporting its fund raising projects,” Harvey said. “This year we are showcasing a Hidden Gardens of Lake County Tour to raise funds for this scholarship and to support student gardens in the county.”
The tour will be held May 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will highlight visits to a variety of hidden gardens in Lake County. Tickets will be sold for $25. For more information about this event email: gardentour@clttgc.org, or call 279-0192.

The club meets at noon on the third Tuesday of the month at the Scotts Valley Women’s Club House, located at 2298 Hendricks Road in Lakeport.
