Clear Lake and Mount Konocti are two of the most prominent features in Lake County. Clear Lake is said to be more than a million years old, making it one of the oldest lakes in North America. Mount Konocti dates back 500,000 years.

ED Groves and Terry Knight will be the feature speakers on the lake and mountain at the Lakeport Christen Center located at 455 Forbes St. Lakeport on April 10. The program will start at 6 p.m. and is open to the public and is free. The talk will center on the history of Clear Lake and Mount Konocti and the mysteries that they hold.

Groves was part of the crew that dug into the vents on Mount Konocti in the 1990s. The crew of scientists were investigating the vents and looking for the secret lake that is rumored to be at the base of the mountain. The mountain itself has long been considered the holder of many secrets and mysteries.

Grove lives in Soda Bay on the property that his father purchased in 1939. He is an avid fly fisherman as well as an adventurer and outdoorsman.

Knight is the local writer for the Lake County Record-Bee and number of magazines. He has authored a number of stories about Clear Lake and Lake County. One of his recent articles on Mount Konocti and Clear Lake appeared in the Bay Nature Magazine. He also writes about fishing, hunting and the environment.
