Baseball doesn’t always reward solid peformances and such was the case Friday when Kelseyville and Middletown locked up in a 2-0 North Central League I pitcher’s duel won by the host Knights at Lloyd Larson Field in Kelseyville. Middletown starter Tyler Holt (14) turned in five innings of one-hit ball, struck out five and walked four while taking the loss. He walked the first two batters he faced in the bottom of the first inning and both runners eventually scored, accounting for the game’s only runs. Kesleyville first baseman Sambhava Baird gloves a throw from across the diamond to record the out against Middletown’s Stephen Amos. Baird had Kelseyville’s only two hits in the game while Amos had two of Middletown’s three hits. Kelseyville second baseman Brandon Humber throws on to first base to record an out. Middletown plays at Cloverdale on Tuesday at 4 p.m., weather permitting. Kelseyville is off until Friday when it hosts Lower Lake at 4 p.m.
