The California Conservation Corps will have staff available to talk about the CCC program at the upcoming Workforce Lake Job Fairs in Lakeport and Clearlake.

The CCC will have a table at the two fairs, the first set for Friday, April 10, at Mendocino College’s Lake Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Lake Center is located at 2565 Parallel Drive in Lakeport. The second fair will be held Friday, April 24, at the Clear Lake Campus of Yuba College, 15880 Dam Road Exit, Clearlake, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

CCC staff will provide information about residential opportunities in the state program, aimed at young men and women who like to work outdoors. Applicants need to be between the ages of 18 and 25 and not on probation or parole. They can choose to live at one of the CCC residential centers throughout the state, from Ventura County to Humboldt County, with several sites in between, including Lake Tahoe and Ukiah.

CCC crews work with a variety of local, state and federal agencies building trails, planting trees, reducing fire hazards and installing water conservation measures. The crews may also be involved with emergency response and sent to fires and floods when natural disasters occur.

Each month, corpsmembers earn $1,520, with medical and vacation benefits. There are also opportunities to earn a high school diploma and scholarships for use after the CCC.
