Refrain from blame
Brent Pomeroy (RB 4-8) misspeaks when he says that it took “216 years to rack up the first $8.5 trillion in debt.” Our national debt had been paid off some time in the early 20th Century. By the time of Jimmy Carter’s administration the national debt was up to $998 billion. Ronald Reagan added $1.86 trillion (186 percent increase). George H.W. added $1.55 trillion (54 percent increase). Bill Clinton added $1.4 trillion (32 percent increase). George W. added $5.85 trillion (101 percent increase). Barack Obama added the rest (53 percent increase so far). So for the $17 trillion added since 1981, Democratic liberal economy is responsible for 44 percent of this increase and Republican’s conservative economy added 56 percent. And, as you can see by the percentage increases, Reagan is the most culpable. So, lets refrain from blaming a liberal economy for racking up the debt. The problem is much more complex than that.

Haters
I just read Mac McKay’s letter to the editor “Think like this?” April 3, 2015. Wow! Talk about a Democrat hater!

Sprinklers
This may be helpful and an interest to many Lake County residents who would like to try and keep their yards green during our current drought conditions.
As of last year it came to my attention that there are various water saving sprinkler heads available for lawns, ground cover applications, etc. They are called rotor head sprinkler heads, not to be confused with impact sprinkler heads.
These sprinkler heads are advertised as capable of saving 33 percent of water usage. This may be the difference between keeping your landscaping or losing it with the mandated conservation measures headed our way in the near future. They rely on a more precise, less wasteful spray and at a slow rate, which reduces water waste. However, you may still have to contend with gophers chewing through the tubing.
I have seen this system first hand, which my neighbor has installed. You see no water on the sidewalks, driveways or being carried off into the atmosphere or by windy conditions.
