UKIAH >> Middletown’s Riley Adams fired the fifth lowest round of the day while Coastal Mountain Conference South leader St. Vincent beat Cardinal Newman in a card-off to capture the title in the 29th annual Ukiah Golf Tournament on Monday at the par-70 Ukiah Municipal course.
St. Vincent and Cardinal Newman tied with 419 (the combined total of the five out of six lowest scorers). Since neither team could field a sixth man on Monday, the tie was broken by the number each team’s low scorer — St. Vincent’s Joe Wertz (74) and Cardinal Newman’s Brandon Bone (72) — carded on the course’s toughest hole, No. 11. Wertz parred the hole while Bone had a bogey.
Middletown finished 10th overall in the 12-team field while Kelseyville was incomplete.
Chasen Tom fired an 82 for Middletown while Matt Wotherspoon led Kelseyville with 84.
