WILLITS >> Logan Barrick pitched a complete game and drove in three runs as the Kelseyville Knights knocked off the Willits Wolverines 13-7 in a North Central League I slugfest on Tuesday afternoon in Willits.

Barrick threw only 89 pitches while striking out seven and walking none. He allowed 10 hits and three earned runs.

“We were kind of due for that,” Kelseyville coach Lou Poloni said of the Knights’ breakout on offense. “It was one of those games where we needed to keep scoring. Willits kept chipping away at our lead.”

The Knights (4-2 league, 8-8 overall) scored three times in the top of the first inning and never looked back although Willits closed to 4-3 after three innings. A five-run top of the fourth that featured two-run singles by Noah Lyndall (3-for-5, 3 RBIs) and Brandon Huber (1-for-3, 3 RBIs) broke the game open. Barrick finished 2-for-4.

“We came out and swung it real well in the first inning and in the second,” Poloni said. “It’s a big win.”

Willits (3-2) entered play just one game behind undefeated Clear Lake in the league standings.

Kelseyville, a winner of three straight in league, travels to St. Helena on Friday.
