Lakeport >> Police officers found five firearms and a bag of ammunition after a report of a suspect in the process of burglarizing a home in the 300th block of Sixth Street Tuesday just before 3 p.m. Lakeport police and sheriff’s office personnel were searching for the subject as of Tuesday afternoon.

The victim call the Lakeport Police Department (LPD) to report a man leaving the home and loading presumably stolen items into the victim’s truck, according to a release by the LPD. The victim saw the suspect, who then fled toward Fifth Street.

Officers determined the firearms did not belong to the victim and believe they may have also been stolen from a nearby residence, the release stated. Further investigation has also led officers to believe that other locations have been burglarized, but have not yet been reported.

The suspect is described as a white male adult in his late 20s or 30s, 6 feet tall, thin build with short, dark brown hair, goatee wearing a black shirt and cut-off jean shorts, black skate shoes and tattoos on his arms and hands. It is unknown as of Tuesday afternoon if the suspect is in possession of any other firearms.

Just before 5 p.m., LPD sent out a second alert of a white 1994 Ford F150 with a green stripe on Royale Avenue stolen possibly by the burglary suspect.

Officers are also investigating the possibility that the same suspect may have been involved with a stolen green Ford Explorer out of Santa Rosa that was recovered from the parking lot of the Lake County District Attorney’s Office.

Anyone who sees the suspect should call 911 and not approach him or attempt to make contact.
