Lake County >> The Highlands Senior Service Center (HSSC) is seeking members for their Board of Directors. Due to the retirement of several board members, there are currently four openings.

HSSC is seeking to create a well-balanced mix of individuals to serve as board members. They are seeking active and involved representatives from the community who believe in their mission of providing excellent service to seniors. Especially desired are members with legal experience, accounting or banking experience, or who have experience serving seniors, but all interested individuals are invited to apply. Board members do not have to be seniors to serve. Board members will be expected to attend one meeting a month that generally runs 1-2 hours.

They should also be prepared to be actively engaged in fundraisers, and to serve on committees for various activities. These activities are estimated to encompass an extra 4 hours a month.

HSSC has been active in providing services to the seniors of Clearlake, Lower Lake and Clearlake Park for 39 years. Through their Senior Nutrition programs, they serve approximately 40,000 meals a year, and provide information and assistance to an additional 4,000 seniors a year. HSSC is entering a challenging and exciting time, as economic pressures on their clients increase and the demand for their services continues to rise. HSSC has a tradition of high quality service and activism related to the safety and security of our clients and is looking to invite members of the community who share this passion to join them in their efforts.

Interested applicants should send a letter indicating their interest and qualifications to: HSSC Nominating Committee, PO Box 180, Clearlake, CA 95422.
