PETALUMA >> Kaylie Williams, Nikki Hanson and Lauren Rudnick each recorded a pair of first-place finishes in individual events for the combined Clear Lake/Kelseyville swim team on Wednesday during a Coastal Mountain Conference meet at Petaluma.

“The team continues to get stronger as we approach the end of our season and our swimmers continue to improve on their personal best times,” Clear Lake/Kelseyville coach Agustin Merodio said.

Williams won the 50- and 100-yard freestyles, Hanson’s firsts came in the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly, and Rudnick topped the field in the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke.

Single-event winners were Paige LaVrar in the 500 freestyle and Shannon Fronsman in the 100 backstroke.

The Clear Lake/Kelseyville girls also won all three relay events.

For the boys, first-place finishes were a little harder to come by. The only individual first was Diego Tejeda in the 50 freestyle. Tejeda also swam a leg on the winning 200 freestyle relay team along with Max Madrzyk, Alberto Sturr and Owen Lawler.

“League championships are two weeks away and our swimmers should be in a position to score many individual medals,” Merodio said. “They have practiced hard and are reaping the rewards of that hard work.”

Team scores were not reported.

Clear Lake/Kelseyville returns to action on Thursday in St. Helena, its final meet before the league championships April 30, also in St. Helena.
