Clearlake >> Wearing a white flower headband and her Earth Day T shirt, student body class secretary Danielle Stennet was pleased with this year’s Earth Day event at Yuba College, Clear Lake Campus on Wednesday.

Stennet, along with Associated Student Body President Ruby Tu  and about 10 other students worked for about a month to plan the day’s celebration.

“We put in a lot of effort,” Stennet said. “It’s better than last year with more participation.”

The students pulled together resources and brought 25 in booths to the celebration. Lake County Sierra Club, Lake County Land Trust, Anderson Marsh, Solar City, Environmental Protection Agency and Lake County Co-op were some of the organizations represented.

The event featured a raffle and a free water bottle giveaway and flower garden starters for pre-school aged children to take home.

Musicians performed on the green while many in the crowd enjoyed lunch prepared by students of Yuba’s award winning culinary program.
