Clearlake Oaks >> Officers have arrested a man accused in a stabbing incident Wednesday night.

At approximately 9:08 p.m. on Wednesday deputies responded to the Tower Mart in Clearlake Oaks on Highway 20 for a reported stabbing, Lake County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Steve Brooks stated in a media release. They contacted the victim, who said he had been stabbed and noticed he was bleeding from a laceration to his stomach. He was transported to a medical facility where he received treatment for his injuries.

The victim told investigators he was sitting on a bench at the gas station, when the suspect, later identified as 26-year-old Jared Silverio Rosalez of Clearlake, walked up and punched him multiple times for no reason, Brooks stated. The victim was not sure when he was stabbed, but allegedly noticed the knife in Rosalez’s hand when he was running from the scene.

Several witnesses provided a description of Rosalez and said he was last seen running westbound on Highway 20. A short time later, deputies found Rosalez near the intersection of Highway 20 and Lakeview Drive, where he was allegedly attempting to flag down vehicles to obtain a ride, Brooks stated.

When deputies contacted Rosalez they reportedly noticed he tossed a knife toward the side of the road. They were able to seize the knife as evidence and take Rosalez into custody without further incident.

Rosalez was arrested and charged with attempted murder and transported to the Lake County Hill Road Correctional Facility.
