ST. HELENA >> Lauren Rudnick and Diego Tejeda of the combined Clear Lake/Kelseyville swim team each came away with two individual firsts during a Coastal Mountain Conference meet on Thursday against the St. Helena Saints in St. Helena.

It was the regular-season finale for Clear Lake/Kelseyville. The team returns to St. Helena again this Thursday for the CMC Championships.

“This was the toughest team on our schedule,” Clear Lake/Kelseyville coach Agustin Merodio said. “I knew if they did well in St. Helena, we would have a good chance of doing well at league championships.”

Kelseyville’s Rudnick won the 200-yard individual medley and the 100 butterfly. Nikki Hanson added another first in the 500 freestyle.

In relay action, Hanson, Amelia Tejeda, Shannon Fronsman and Tasia Jardstrom won the 200 medley relay by two seconds.

For the Clear Lake/Kelseyville boys, Diego Tejeda claimed firsts in the 500 freestyle and 100 butterfly while also anchoring the winning 400 freestyle relay team of Max Madrzyk, Owen Lawler and Alberto Sturr.

“What I always stress with the swimmers is that they are mostly competing against themselves,” Merodio said. “The majority of the swimmers swam personal-best times in St. Helena and if they continue to improve, we might see several All-League finishes at (conference) championships. We have relay teams that are looking strong and we are excited to head back to St. Helena.”

Team scores were not provided.

The team also has a fundraiser coming up. It hosts the fourth annual Mother’s Day Pancake Breakfast on May 10 at the Kelseyville Lions Club. All mothers in attendance receive a carnation.
