FRESNO >> Blake Fredrickson of the Lower Lake Punishers Wrestling Club mowed down the competition last weekend while winning the 88-pound cadet division during the Freestyle State Championships at Selland Arena in Fresno.
Fredrickson was one of nine Punishers in attendance at the event and the other eight also placed in a tournament that drew 1,000 wrestlers.
Fredrickson posted a 3-0 record, including a dominating 15-5 tech fall against Jacob Hiller of Chico in the finals. After winning the state title, Fredrickson was invited to compete on USA Wrestling’s Cadet National Dual Team and he will travel to Pennsylvania in June along with his other California teammates.

Arturo Gudino was the runner-up in the 40-pound bantam division while former Lower Lake High star Erick Moreno, now wrestling at Sacramento City College, finished second in the Greco 70-kilo division. He also picked up a fifth in the 70-kilo freestyle bracket.
