LAKE COUNTY >> A trio of Lake County high school golfers were named to the All-Coastal Mountain Conference South first team following the final regular-season match on Tuesday afternoon at Oakmont West in Santa Rosa.
Two of the three, Middletown High School seniors Riley Adams and Chasen Tom, will be in action Monday when the North Coast Section Division II Championships open at the Blue Rock Springs West Course in Vallejo. The third, Kelseyville High School freshman Matt Wotherspoon, barely missed qualifying in his first high school campaign.
“He had a great season as did Riley and Chasen,” Kelseyville coach John Berry said. “Missing out by one stroke in your freshman year is not bad.”
Middletown finished second in the CMC South standings behind champion St. Vincent in 2015. Kelseyville came in third.
Also named to the first team were senior Joey Wertz, junior Alex Graham, sophomore Jack Hood and freshman Justin Peck of the undefeated St. Vincent squad (35-0), and St. Helena junior Ryan Johnson, who is also advancing to the NCS Championships in Vallejo.
Named to the All-Conference second team were Kelseyville seniors Joe Tannous and Sophie Sells, Clear Lake senior Brian Holt, Middletown junior Chelsie Tom, Rincon Valley Christian’s James Lang, a senior, and Jacob Hobson, a sophomore, Sonoma Academy senior Lucas Lorenz and Geyserville freshman Carson Klabfreisch.
The All-CMC South team is selected by the conference’s coaches.
