Lakeport >> A car hit a telephone pole on Main Street snapping it in half Thursday evening.

The incident occurred in front of the Hospice Thrift Store on South Main Street and was reported at about 9:30 p.m., according to Lakeport Police Department (LPD) Sgt. Gary Basor.

The unnamed male driver and sole occupant of the black 2013 Dodge Dart was able to walk after the crash, but was transported via ambulance to Sutter Lakeside Hospital with complaints of pain, Basor said.

Personnel from the LPD as well as the Lakeport Fire Protection District responded to the scene at the time of the crash, and the Lakeport Public Works Department and phone company were called in to repair the damaged pole.

Investigators do not suspect drugs or alcohol to be a contributing factor to the crash. The incident is currently under investigation, which includes the use of a 3D crime scene scanner.

The LPD used the system Friday morning to get a 360-degree scan of the crash site, which will allow them to recreate the scene electronically, allowing investigators to study the incident from different angles in detail.

Motorists were advised to use caution in the area through a Nixle sent out Friday at about 11:30 a.m.
