Unable to find anyone willing to take ownership of and refurbish The Egret, Ed Nickerman plans to remove the historic boat from Clear Lake. Built in Denmark in 1939, it was sailed across the Atlantic and through the Panama Canal to California. A fixture under sail on the lake for many years, the boat has suffered hard times recently. It sank two years ago, was raised, but then became stuck in the mud until the lake levels rose. – Dave Faries — Lake County Publishing
